Volleyball

Youth Volleyball League, officially established in 2003, is a nonprofit organization devoted to the development of youth volleyball by teaching basic skills and techniques, by offering a competitive venue, by building teamwork and by encouraging sportsmanship. Prior to 2003, the Youth Volleyball league was part of both the CYO and WCSL (Westchester Catholic School League) since 1989.  The current league is made up of Catholic Schools located in the Bronx and Westchester Counties.

Two levels of play are offered – a Junior Varsity Level (JV) for girls in Grades 4-6; and a Varsity Level for girls in Grades 6-8. Mrs. MaryAlison Makarczuk established the volleyball program at St Patrick’s in 2001 and is Program Director and Varsity Coach. Mrs. Patricia Aliaga returns for a second year as the JV Coach.

St. Patrick’s Varsity teams have twice won the League Championship Tournament – 2011 in an undefeated season, and in 2014 when they finished 20-1; the JV team was the undefeated Champion of their 2012 season. Championship tournaments are held at Cardinal Spellman High School in the Bronx.

Volleyball season runs from March though May.
