A school uniform is a way to show pride in one’s school community.mThey create a feeling of unity and also connect students to the history of their school. A uniform is one very visual and public affirmation of a school’s identity. It also minimizes distractions in the learning process.
It is important that students at St. Patrick’s School wear the complete uniform, and always remember that when wearing it inside and outside the school, students are representing their school–St. Patrick’s in Bedford. Behavior should be a credit to both the student and the school.
All students in Grades Pre-K through 8 are required to wear a uniform at all times during school hours. Uniforms are expected to be neat and clean. Parents should label their child’s name on all articles of clothing. Uniforms may be purchased from the Flynn and O’Hara Uniform Company. The company is on-site at St. Patrick’s School at the Moving Up Day each spring to measure students and take orders. Students wear the gym uniform daily. Sneakers are to be worn every day in Pre-K and K.
Skirt or Kilt – which is no shorter than the knee cap, and white oxford shirt. All else is the same.
Light Blue Oxford shirt. All else is the same as lower grades.
The presence of anything that proclaims a current fad in not permitted. Girls may wear small, conservative headbands, barrettes and bows in their hair. They may not wear hats in school. They may wear small earrings, a watch or a bracelet, and light colored nail polish. No other form of makeup is allowed. They may not have tattoos or any type of body art and may not dye their hair. Boys may not wear anything in their hair including, but not limited to: sweatbands, headbands, bandanas or hats in school. Boys may not wear earrings or any other jewelry other than a watch. Boys may not wear any form of makeup, nail polish, have tattoos or any type of body art and may not dye their hair.
The individual teacher will clarify class trip attire depending on the nature of the trip and the location.
On occasion, the Principal will give a NO UNIFORM DAY. If the student chooses to wear jeans, they must not be baggy, ill fitting or torn. Girls’ skirts must not be shorter than knee length. Shoes must be appropriate and sensible and always worn with socks. No flip-flop sandals or high heels are allowed.
